I downloaded the first three John Milton books, the Audible versions. There is a LOT to like in these books. They move right along, the characters are more than ciphers and have distinct personalities, and the hero is a great fighter and tactician but isn't perfect and can be damaged. The problem is the constant ignorance about guns. He talks about Glocks having safeties. In this book, the hero buys a SW .45 (he calls it a "point four five) handgun. He says he got it for less than $500 and it came with clips that held 13 rounds each. Okay...so it's a semi-automatic. Smith and Wesson do make a 1911 now (which is what he describes) but then he calls it a revolver again and again...even while maintaining that it holds 13 in the clip and one in the chamber. Oh, and he starts calling it a Springfield, not a Smith and Wesson. He says Milton bought the handgun at an El Paso gun show where one table had a sign saying "no background check, no paper." No...you can't do that at any gun show. I'm a 61 year old with extensive firearm experience, who has worked with local, state, national (FBI, Homeland) and international law enforcement officers. We all know that there has not been more than a handful of crimes (and zero mass shootings) committed with a firearm purchased at a gun show. If you go to one anywhere in the US, signs are up everywhere forbidding private sales between citizens without a background check. Sure, it may happen in the parking lot but there is usually police presence there to make sure it doesn't. BATFE agents roam the aisles and the parking lots as well. Milton says every kind of firearm he has used in the military and his life as a assassin is available. No, it isn't. No fully automatic firearms are for sale at these shows. Those firearms require a Class 3 license to buy or sale and that requires a TON of paperwork, months and months of checks, the top LEO or a judge has to sign off on it, you have to pay a special tax and, after all that, there are many, many States that will not allow a citizen to own one even after all of that and a ton of cities as well. I've gone to over 50 gun shows and have never seen a Class Three firearm for sale. Not even in Texas. I love the flow of the books and I will try to download more but the gun mistakes just keep piling up and it is very distracting. Makes me wonder what else he is getting wrong. [Not Dawson's fault, but the reader is great with most accents but terrible with the Texas ones in this book. The Texas guys sound like Carmen on South Park had a kid with a Mississippi governor from the 1920s]

In the third action-packed book featuring Mark Dawson's rogue assassin on the run, John Milton, Dawson delivers an exciting, fast paced, no-holds-barred story that keeps pages turning. John Milton is back again and is on the run from Control [his former employers] and finds himself in Juarez, a town with a reputation for being called the City Of God, because not even the Devil himself would dare to visit. I really liked the first novel THE CLEANER and SAINT DEATH does not disappoint as we learn more about John Milton and his motivation to turn from assassin to a man that just wants to help people that need it.In “Saint Death” Milton is working as a chef in a kitchen and it is while he is doing that that he is witness to an attempted assassination; Milton intervenes, taking out the group of assassins and saving their target, a journalist who has been writing a blog about the local cartel [and they don't like that}.What follows is Milton's attempt to get the girl over the border to safety while being pursued by the cartel and their most dangerous killer, the Santa Muerte aka Saint Death. And if that isn't enough, the Intelligence group Milton is trying to evade has tracked him down to Mexico because he was fingerprinted at the police station after foiling the assassination attempt on the young journalist. The final scene is a big shootout between the cartel, and six intelligence/special forces agents as they come to a head in trying to kill John Milton. The Saint doesn't leave much room to breathe. I love the kind of books that just keep you wanting to read to get to the end, and honestly, I haven't come across a series of books in a long time that can do that. The stories are simple enough with low complications so that you don't get too bogged down in big details or over-the-top complex plots that you'll soon forget if you put the book down for two days. The end of the book leaves you wanting more as John Milton has escaped/evaded capture, but he's on the run in a stolen car and heading back to the States.Action-packed, a real roller coaster ride with characters that are compelling and real, Mark Dawson's John Milton is as real as bad-ass heroes get. I'm looking forward to keeping up with this series!

Another good action thriller from Mark Dawson. This offering takes John Milton, an on the run former assassin for the British government, to Ciudad Juarez. While working as a cook in a restaurant, Milton interferes in the attempted murder of two bloggers and a young girl telling her tale of surviving the drug cartel. While two of those are killed in the attack, Milton makes it his personal job to see that the third makes it out of Mexico alive. As with many good thrillers there are parallel plots involving an honest Juarez cop, a bounty hunter and Milton's former employers who are still trying to kill him.In The Cleaner, Dawson told the story of the poverty in London's East End. In Saint Death, Dawson weaves the factual disappearances of women that has plagued Juarez over the past few years into his tale. While reading The Cleaner is not really necessary to enjoy this novel, it does help the reader in understanding why British Intelligence is trying to capture/kill Milton.

I'm very pleased with this book, and have installed a number of the apps on my Kindle Fire. I have several kindle devices, and have learned via this book, how to customize my fire and maximize the usefulness of all my kindle devices. Thank you so much for teaching me how to entertain myself and my family, and how to do a ton of other things with my Fire!!! 😊

This is a nice e-Book if you are looking for a nice gamut of usable apps that are risk free for your Kindle Fire. You will be able to find a nice collection of apps to enable your to provide you with any information that a full on desktop/laptop can provide. Worth the perusing and its always there ( for now).

This book is definitely worth the $0.99 I paid for it. Found a few cool sites, and learned some tricks and stuff I was not aware of. Liked the links to the various travel sites, and the translation site as well.

Hello Mr. Ed Jones,Just finished reading the 200 Free Apps book.I recently purchased the Kindle Fire HD and I am so unequite for this tablet but I wanted a tablet(already have a pc) to start learning how to navigate one because two others that I had purchased I found hard to even do anything on or get accquainted with them so I returned them.Anyway, when I purchased the Kindle, I thought I would google tutorials for beginners on it and went Amazon came up with those books: I jumped on them, especially at the price offered. I was surprised they were digital but excited too as they downloaded right to my Kindle and I was able to take advantage of the tips, and other information in them. I also read the other one: Tips and Traps... Which was my first purchase.Thank you so much for the simple way you express how to get use to my Kindle and what to do with it. I was able to even download from my Amazon account the books to my laptop and finish reading them there. On my first day, I was able to download a movie and watch it as well. This time, I did a lot of research and googling to find out what to do once I got the Kindle so I would not be in the dark as to how to operate it.I also have to admit; I love the set up on the Kindle Fire HD and find it more user friendly than any of the others I had purchased and sent back!!Again, I just wanted to thank you for the two books I read and the massive amount of very useful information that anyone, beginner or experience can use!!I will also sign up for your email updates on the Kindle Fire HD.

This is a good book, just not for me. I did read it and it does have a lot of good apps, but I was looking for one subject only. It did help but I didn't find very much on what I wanted

If you are looking for worthwhile free apps you definetly will be glad you got this booklet. Aside from listing many very good free apps with notes on use, it provides lots of useful tips on getting material not normally used on your Kindle Fire on board and working. You will spend a couple of hours reading and trying new apps (they are free and it tells you how to delete them) so feel free to experiment! I found it a very useful resource.

While I didn't expect too much from what I had thought would be a catalogue of apps, I was pleasantly surprised. The introduction was the same as throat book I read, that is where the similarity ends. The apps were discussed individually, with a few having honorable mention for compatibility with the app being elaborated upon. It was wonderful to learn of the purpose of each app. It was also surprising to learn how many of the apps are at more extensive in covering less thought of features that greatly increase their inherent value. In all, this book is worth the price, both for reference and catalogue like qualities.

I finally stumbled onto the exact kind of "how to" ADVICE BOOK I have been looking for. The author explains how to use an App by steps, "do this" then "do this". That is the only way I can figure out the procedure, but I have to say, I 'm getting better because I keep reading "doable" content like this one. While reading the book I was also laughing at myself because at my age I am becoming obsessed with Apps; I even thought about the one that simulates flying a plane. I thoroughly enjoyed this short, to the point Kindle help book. It's a keeper. SES/ Houston

His findings indicatethat Hodel was one of the most prolific serial killers in history, beginning as a young manand continuing to kill undetected throughout his life, including his possible involvement inChicago's "Lipstick Murders" and the series of killings in 1960s California by the man who called himself Zodiac. In Most Evil, Hodel compiles never-before-seen visual, cirucumstantial, and forensic evidence that reveals his father as a serial killer who may have been responsible for some of the most infamous murders of the last century.

#71,850 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

I've read all of George Hodel's books over the years. What he wrote in the first turned out to be true. People were skeptical at first, but facts have come out that show it's not just likely, more like obvious, if you follow how Hodel has put all his ducks in a row.I was skeptical about this book. The Chicago and Manila murders seemed likely. But not Zodiac. But just like he did with the first book, he keeps layering facts. He's come out with another book, with additional evidence and there is new info on his website--layer after layer. So skeptical or not, I have to say that Hodel is building another solid case. It must be a bit difficult for him emotionally when he steps away from his roles as author and investigator. When he's back to being George Hodel's son, it must be awfully wrenching.

I'm not 100% convinced but Steve Hodel makes a good case showing the parallels between the Black Dahlia Killer and the Zodiac. As the primary witnesses age and pass on, a definitive 'he did it' is unlikely barring a DNA match that could show Dr. George Hodel was involved. I'd recommend reading Black Dahlia Avenger first to get a handle on the prime suspect. Robert Graysmith's Zodiac book gives better overall look at the evidence in that case and comes to a completely different conclusion. Graysmith had never heard of George Hodel's very real connection to the Dahlia case, as those files were sealed at that time. Had Hodel been publicly named a suspect in the Dahlia case it's very possible he would have been looked at for Zodiac as well.

Most Evil is one of my all time favorite true crime books! I was a child living in the Los Angeles area when the Black Dahlia murder occurred. I remember it being in the LA papers. When the Zodiac Killer roamed the San Francisco Bay Area, I lived in Marin County and was scared many nights when my husband was away. I have read Most Evil more than once and will probably read it again. Thank you Steve Hodel - you have a number one fan.

After thoroughly enjoying Mr. Hodel's page-turner, "Black Dahlia Avenger", I was very eager to dive into "Most Evil" and was engaged from page one of this riveting true-life thriller.Once again, Mr. Hodel affords the reader the luxurious intimacy of fly-on-the-wall status as he presents his readers with compelling facts that strongly suggest his late father, Dr. George Hodel, was indeed the infamous "Zodiac" killer. Countless photographs from the "Zodiac", "Black Dahlia" and other cases (as well as from the author's personal collection) enrich the details Mr. Hodel puts forth. We are also given a history of Dr. George Hodel's involvement with the "Black Dahlia" (Elizabeth Short) murder (which the author meticulously spells out in "Black Dahlia Avenger") in order for us to better understand his father's tie to the "Zodiac" case. This is no campfire story. Mr. Hodel (with Mr. Pezzullo) presents his case in layman's terms so the reader feels he/she is being treated to an engrossing story over a multi-course gourmet dinner and a fine wine.True crime story lovers who appreciate exhaustively-researched books will get a great deal of enjoyment from "Most Evil" (as did I). Treat yourself and make this your next purchase!

Steve Hodel makes Sherlock Holmes look like an amateur! While he has been derided for naming his father as the most notorious serial killer of the 20th Century, he has supported his investigation with unlimited circumstantial evidence and while it is "circumstantial", it is so completely explained that there is no doubt in my mind that his father, Dr. George Hill Hodel was the infamous murderer of The Black Dahlia while also being "The Lipstick Killer" ("stop me before I kill more!"), San Francisco's "Zodiak" killer and perpetrator of other unsolved killings.Though it appears on the surface to be a ridiculously fanciful thesis, Mr. Hodel, a retired homicide policeman has in my opinion, solved these crimes, tying them together with a motivational thread and accompanying the text with copious illustrations. This book is impossible to put aside.Bravo, Steve Hodel. This could not have been pleasant for you.

That's not hyperbole -- I feel he truly has. The moment I read that his father was influenced by James Joyce, the word play in the Zodiac letters came chillingly into focus. This alone, coupled with the (thankful) rarity of George Hodel's madness and the huge canvas he was painting on (which Steve Hodel has highlighted by giving us his father's aesthetic perspective) makes it highly unlikely that there could exist *two* people as crazy and brilliant as the BDA and Z. It would be easy to chalk off the correspondences he highlights as simple coincidence mistaken by pattern perception, but the background and structure behind the theories makes that assessment highly unlikely. This is a brilliant analysis. I do wonder if his father persuaded Steve to become a detective. Perhaps that is why he is Daedalus who made the flight through brilliance without his wings burning while his father (Icarus, with the father/son roles swapped) did not. George Hodel was an insane genius -- happily, his son is a sane one. That is evidenced by this book.
